Anne of Green Gables HPH version
This heartwarming story has beckoned generations of readers into the special world of Green Gables, an old-fashioned farm outside a town called Avonlea. Anne Shirley, an eleven-year-old orphan, has arrived in this verdant corner of Prince Edward Island only to discover that the Cuthberts, Matthew and his stern sister, Marilla, want to adopt a boy, not a feisty redheaded girl. Before they can send her back, Anne, who simply must have more scope for her imagination and a real home, wins them over completely.
A much-loved classic that explores all the vulnerability, expectations, and dreams of a child growing up, Anne of Green Gables is also a wonderful portrait of a time, a place, a family… and, most of all, love.
An excellent edition, a quality print.
Found these books in Brisbane today. They are superb quality books. The quality of print plus art illustrations makes them instantly high valued collections to my personal library. I am a 30 year collector of Folio Society books but these Hipkiss version are the first time I have encountered book editions that begin to rival the Folio Society books. I just wish today I had bought a dozen copies to pass on to book loving friends. Definitely deserve to be part of a family’s library.
Beautiful
Very pleased with my purchase of this Hard Cover book - lovely illustrations on nice thick paper pages which are a joy to turn.
Fabulous old titles presented in a fresh way. A great book to keep for ever - quality presentation and illustrations - even the colouring suits the titles! Loved reading these again, brought back fond memories. Well done Hipkiss Publishing House!
