We are Hipkiss Publishing House

Hipkiss Publishing House is an independent Australian publisher born from a deep love of books and the art that brings them to life. We believe that the classics deserve more than a mass-produced paperback on a shelf — they deserve to be celebrated, treasured, and passed down through generations.

That's why we create special edition hardcovers that are as beautiful to hold as they are to read. Each title in our collection is printed in Australia and features original commissioned illustrations, premium hardcover binding with deboss and foiling, and the kind of craftsmanship that makes a book feel like a gift — even when you're buying it for yourself.

Who we are

We're a husband-and-wife team based on the Gold Coast in Queensland, and books are at the very heart of everything we do.

Stephen, our director, is a passionate advocate for storytelling in all its forms. An author himself, he has a fantasy trilogy completed, a standalone fantasy novel in its fourth draft, and a romantic diving adventure currently in progress. He has served as a judge for the Aurealis Awards — Australia's premier speculative fiction awards — and is an active member of both the Gold Coast Writers Association and the Australian Society of Authors. He brings a writer's eye and a reader's heart to every book we publish.

Together, we work with talented illustrators from Australia and New Zealand to create editions that honour the original works while giving them a stunning new life on your shelf.
